Blackstone Valley Prep (BVP) Mayoral Academy is a network of tuition-free public schools chartered by the Rhode Island Department of Education. As a growing network of schools, BVP offers a high quality public school choice to the families of Lincoln, Cumberland, Central Falls and Pawtucket and currently serves 770 scholars in grades K-3 and 5-7. A member of the Rhode Island Mayoral AcademiesSMnetwork, BVP’s mission is to prepare every scholar for success in college and the world beyond.
Our school culture is founded on the core PRIDE values: Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline and Enthusiasm. Scholars, families and staff are expected to live and implement these in their daily work. Our homerooms are named after the alma maters of our staff, including URI, Brown University, RIC and colleges nationwide. Supported by the unyielding commitment to the belief that all children can achieve, we know our “students” are really scholars who will one day graduate from college.

BVP is home to one of three commended middle schools in Rhode Island.
At the end of May in 2012, BVP was one of only seven schools to be profiled as a "successful example" of an integrated charter school in research published by the Poverty & Race Research Action Council and The Century Foundation.
BVP ended the 2011-12 school year with an average attendance rate of 97% and an overall chronic absence rate of 3.1%. There were 60 scholars (11%) who ended the year with perfect attendance.
Our kindergarteners are 100% proficient in reading.
98.4% of families would recommend BVP to other families.
