Working together to prove what’s possible.

This work is hard. This work is urgent. At BVP, you will have the opportunity to work alongside like-minded professionals who believe that 100% of scholars are capable of achieving great success. To ensure we fulfill our mission of preparing every scholar for success in college and the world beyond, we need dynamic, innovative minds, and enthusiastic personalities who are willing to do whatever it takes to positively impact the academic and life trajectories of our scholars.

  • "BVP is more than a school network. BVP is a diverse community where everyone believes in being a champion for all scholars and striving for excellence!"

Important Reminders for Applicants

Due to the high volume of candidates we consider, we ask that you do not apply for multiple positions. Please choose one that best fits your background. Depending on how your experience aligns with our openings we may suggest different or multiple opportunities to you.

The first step to being considered for any position is applying online. We ask that you do not email your resume, cover letter, or other materials to us. We will only consider applications submitted through our online system.

Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy is an equal opportunity employer and does not make decisions regarding employment on the basis of race, color, national origin, creed, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, or ancestry. We strive to celebrate differences and embrace diversity, and we welcome teachers who can foster these values in our scholars.

Please contact with any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I learn about openings?

All of our current opportunities are listed within our application portal. If you would like to be notified of new openings, be sure to create a profile and set up a job agent.

How can I know if a position is still available?

If a job is posted within our employment listings, we are still considering candidates and it is possible that you will be contacted. Once a position closes, we remove it from our website.

I’m interested in Blackstone Valley Prep, but I do not see a listing I am interested in. How can I express interest in the company?

If there is no posting of interest to you at this time, you can still submit your resume for consideration. You can also set up a job agent to notify you about new openings.

How long will the application process take to complete online?

The process should take between 15 – 20 minutes, given that your resume and cover letter are already prepared. The application process will go especially smoothly if you have your updated resume ready to upload as our system will populate many of the fields for you.

How long does it take to be notified for an interview?

The timeline for each position varies. As long as a position is posted on our website, it is still possible that you will be asked to participate in an interview.

I applied for a position. How do I check the status of my submission?

Due to the volume of applicants we receive we only update and contact applicants we would like to advance in our process. It is not recommended that you email our team members to inquire about your application’s status.

I prefer to send hard copies of my resume and cover letter. Where can I send these?

We do not accept hard copies or emailed applications. Please only submit your application materials via our website.

I can’t remember my password. How can I reset it?

Select either ‘Forgot your password?’ or the ‘Do not have a password?’ link. If your email address is on file, we will send your existing or new login credentials to that email address.

I just submitted my application, but I need to make a correction. What should I do?

Under Current Openings, click on “Update Your Profile.” After you login you can make changes to your profile.

Do you offer volunteer opportunities? Internships?

We have some volunteer opportunities, but they are limited to current partnerships with local colleges and universities. Most available internships are project-based or short-term. When these opportunities are available, we post them along with our current openings.

What background checks do you do?

Prior to date of hire, all employees for every position at BVP must apply for a BCI check through the Rhode Island District Attorney’s office. If the results are not satisfactory, we may not be able to complete your hiring process.

How long is a contract with BVP?

All BVP contracts are annual with renewals occurring in the spring prior to the upcoming school year.

Can I apply to more than one opening?

In general, we recommend only applying for one opening. When you do, we typically consider your candidacy for multiple openings that you may be qualified for. For example, if you apply to a high school math position, we will automatically also consider you for a middle school math position. However, if you see two relatively different positions that you’re interested in applying to (high school math and Dean of Culture), you should apply to both openings, with a tailored cover letter for each position.

What benefits do you offer to staff?

In addition to base salaries, BVP offers a highly competitive benefits package, including plans that pay 80% of comprehensive medical and dental insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, a $50,000 life insurance policy, 401(k) matching of 5% that is immediately fully vested, professional development, and tuition reimbursement opportunities.

Why Rhode Island?

Small State. Huge Impact Achievements.

Rhode Island is small but impactful — a leader in education reform across the country.

According to RI Kids Count data, in 2017, one in six (17%) of children in Rhode Island lived in poverty. Hispanic, Black and Native American children are still more likely to live in poverty and also twice as likely to drop out of high school.

Called the “Ocean State” for good reason, any location in Rhode Island is just minutes from the water. Our state is an affordable and beautiful place to live, work, and raise a family. Small towns and cities like Providence, our capital, also offer convenient access to quality concerts, plays, great food, and fun for all.
