The first step to being considered for any position is applying online. We ask that you do not email your resume, cover letter, or other materials to us. We will only consider applications submitted through our online system.

The process should take between 15 – 20 minutes, given that your resume and cover letter are already prepared. The application process will go especially smoothly if you have your updated resume ready to upload as our system will populate many of the fields for you.
The timeline for each position varies. As long as a position is posted on our website, it is still possible that you will be asked to participate in an interview.
Due to the volume of applicants we receive we only update and contact applicants we would like to advance in our process. It is not recommended that you email our team members to inquire about your application’s status.

We have some volunteer opportunities, but they are limited to current partnerships with local colleges and universities. Most available internships are project-based or short-term. When these opportunities are available, we post them along with our current openings.
Prior to date of hire, all employees for every position at BVP must apply for a BCI check through the Rhode Island District Attorney’s office. If the results are not satisfactory, we may not be able to complete your hiring process.
All BVP contracts are annual with renewals occurring in the spring prior to the upcoming school year.
In general, we recommend only applying for one opening. When you do, we typically consider your candidacy for multiple openings that you may be qualified for. For example, if you apply to a high school math position, we will automatically also consider you for a middle school math position. However, if you see two relatively different positions that you’re interested in applying to (high school math and Dean of Culture), you should apply to both openings, with a tailored cover letter for each position.
In addition to base salaries, BVP offers a highly competitive benefits package, including plans that pay 80% of comprehensive medical and dental insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, a $50,000 life insurance policy, 401(k) matching of 5% that is immediately fully vested, professional development, tuition reimbursement opportunities, and a return bonus of 2%.

Need. According to RI Kids Count data, 20.2% of children live below the federal poverty threshold. Hispanic, Black and Native American children are still more likely to live in poverty and also twice as likely to drop out of high school.
Lifestyle. Called the “Ocean State” for good reason, any location in RI is just minutes from the water. Our state is an affordable and beautiful place to live, work, and raise a family. Small towns and cities like Providence, our capital, also offer convenient access to quality concerts, plays, great food, and fun for all.
