I was personally drawn to pursue a career at Blackstone Valley Prep (BVP) Mayoral Academy because I wanted to be part of a team that believed every scholar could achieve. During my first interactions with scholars and teachers, I knew right away that BVP was a special place. From seeing hands that shot up to answer math problems to observing teachers lesson plan together and hearing classroom cheers, I could tell scholars enjoyed learning and teachers enjoyed teaching.
Teaching is hard work, but during my tenure as a teacher I found that collaborating with teams of people who are so like-minded and focused on 100% of scholars achieving made a world of difference. I enjoyed coming to work every day because of my scholars’ enthusiasm and because I knew I was contributing to a team focused on doing whatever it takes.
As I tour candidates around our campuses in my current role as BVP’s talent recruiter, listen to their reactions, and watch them interact with our scholars and teachers, I am reminded over and over again why I chose to work at BVP. Years later, I am proud to still be part of a team doing whatever it takes to help all of our scholars learn today, so they can lead tomorrow.
