The 2025-26 Charter School Common Application will open November 19, 2024.
Interested families must apply using the EnrollRI Common Application linked below. The 2025-26 common application will open Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 9 a.m. It will stay open until the deadline: Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 5 p.m. The lottery will take place Tuesday, April 1, 2025, and notifications will be sent to applicants shortly thereafter.

Launched by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE), EnrollRI allows families to discover, compare, and apply to participating charter schools in one centralized location. It ensures that access to RIDE schools and programs remains easy, safe, and accessible for all families.
As always, enrollment in a public charter school is nonselective and conducted by random lottery.

Blackstone Valley Prep is an intentionally diverse, tuition-free network of public charter schools that serves students by lottery from four communities: Central Falls, Cumberland, Lincoln, and Pawtucket. Our mission is to prepare every scholar to achieve their goals for college and the world beyond.
Our school day is about eight hours long and includes one enrichment per day. Models for daily schedules vary by grade level. For more information, see the Academics page of our website.
The 2025-26 application window will close Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 5 p.m. Any applications received after that date will automatically be added to the end of the waitlist, regardless of whether or not the applicant has a sibling attending BVP.
Blackstone Valley Prep is a network of tuition-free public schools. There is no cost to apply and there is no cost to enroll.
There is no entrance exam. The only requirement is residency in one of BVP’s four sending communities (Central Falls, Cumberland, Lincoln, and Pawtucket).
YES. All children on the waitlist for previous school years must reapply each year. Waitlists are only valid for the current school year.
There are approximately 225 Kindergarten seats available each year.
If you are applying for a seat in grades 1-12, the lottery is used to determine your waitlist number. Availability for grades 1-12 is based entirely on whether our current scholars indicate that they will return next year. As such, we do not know how many seats will be available in grades 1-12 until after we complete the current school year.
There is high demand, but we still encourage every single family to apply if they are interested.
If your family has ever qualified for subsidized meals at other schools, or your family receives any public assistances, including SNAP, WIC, or TANF, you may be eligible for Free and Reduced Priced Meals. If you apply online, there is a calculator on the application to help determine your eligibility.
BVP provides free bus service. Specific transportation information will be discussed during enrollment meetings, which are held after the lottery. For a list of current stops, you can find our current bus schedule on our website.
All siblings must apply to the lottery every year. Siblings are given preference in the lottery above non-sibling applicants. If there are no available seats, then siblings are given preference on the waitlist.
The lottery will be run after the application window closes in the spring. Results will be communicated in April 2025.
The 2023-24 lottery will be conducted after the application window closes on March 16, 2023. Results will be shared in April using the contact information provided in EnrollRI.
