Advancement Academy
Our mission to create opportunities for young adults to make authentic connections within their community, continue life-long learning, gain competitive employment, and experience joy and increased independence with their postsecondary choices.
Blackstone Valley Prep Advancement Academy
Blackstone Valley Prep’s Advancement Academy is a transition program for young adults ages 18-22. The program’s goals are:
Self-Determination in Everyday Living
Every young adult attending BVP’s Advancement Academy will participate in community-based activities, based on individual need and interest, to enhance their independent living, self-advocacy, and recreational skills while enhancing their quality of life in preparation for post-school success.
Postsecondary Education/Training
Every young adult attending BVPs Advancement Academy will identify and choose an individualized postsecondary education or career interest (training) of their choice to further our mission of life-long learning and their educational independence.
Integration Supports and Services
Every young adult attending BVP’s Advancement Academy will be able to identify, be referred to, and consult with appropriate adult agencies to foster the transition from school to state agency services that increase integration into community and vocational opportunities.
Employability
Every young adult attending BVPs Advancement Academy will have the opportunity to participate in an integrated trial work experience related to their post secondary school goals and career interest that will ultimately lead to paid employment.
